Project Overview

The Wessex BESS project is split into 5 work packages each led by a different institution. Work Package 1 is led by the James Bullock at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology.

This work package involves:

  • Overall project co-ordination

  • Earth observation mapping

  • Developing indicators of ecosystem services in relation to biodiversity

  • Land use scenario development

  • Spatial modelling of ecosystem services incorporating BD-ES relationships

The other four work packages each focus on particular ecosystem services, with an aim to understand the functional relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functions at a range of spatial scales. The figure below demonstrates the inter-relationships between the different work packages. More information on specific ecosystem services can be found by clicking on link of each work package.
